Public viewing for all of our auctions is held at our own premises,
the sales being too large to transport to the auction venue. Account

waiting for the end of the sale.
Public viewing for this sale is available at our offices on the
following dates:
- Friday 16th March from 09.00 - 17.00
- Monday 19th March from 09.00 - 17.00

bids can be placed in advance of the sale via our online facility,
or by telephone, mail, fax or e-mail. For further details please
visit our Online Catalogue.
If you would like to receive a free sample printed catalogue,
or alternatively to apply for a catalogue subscription, please complete
our catalogue

contains far fewer illustrations of lots than the online catalogue.

for £529.

A set of Wills 1901 Cricketers, with vignettes, in fine condition
sold for £529 in the Warwick and Warwick September 21 auction.
The auction was well attended and most of the room bidding was concentrated
on the large section of miscellaneous accumulations and collections
offered intact. The first lot on offer was a collection of complete
and part sets from a large range of manufacturers, contained in
4 large boxes and estimated at £1,000. Determined room bidding
took the realisation to £2,760, including the buyer’s
premium.
A range of complete sets, in fine condition, was on offer and the
following results were typical:

- Churchman 1914 Footballers (coloured) set (3 cards with very
small creases and the odd card with a trivial fault), cat. £800.
Realisation £347.
- Faulkner 1899 Military Terms, 2nd Series set, cat. £300.

Unissued Wills sets achieve High Prices.
Two sets published by Wills, but never issued, were on offer to
bidders in our July 20th 2011 auction.

The first of these was the set entitled “The Life of H.M.
King Edward VIII” and it was intended to issue it after the
coronation of the king in 1937. Unfortunately for Wills the king
chose to abdicate and the series had to be abandoned. Currently
catalogued at £1,000, this is a rare set and was offered with
an estimate of £400. A lot of interest was shown in it and
the final result was a realisation of £517.

The second unissued set on offer was the series entitled “Puppies”.
This consists of 40 cards and was prepared for issue in the 1950s.
The reason why it was never issued is unknown and it is thought
that very few sets have survived. The set on offer had been pasted
to a sheet and removed, possibly as part of the original presentation
prior to production. The estimate was £200 and the realisation
was £230.
Other interesting results were as follows:
- Boguslavsky 1924 Big Events on the Turf set £207;

The best result for a single manufacturer lot was the £2,760
paid for a collection of Gallaher sets, housed in 6 modern albums,
which was estimated at £900. Single Gallaher sets also fared
well: 1910 Association Football Club Colours made £448 and
