BBC filming 'Fake Britain' at the Advintageous fair in the Spa Centre Scarborough

Our senior valuer Richard Beale headed to Scarborough last October to film an episode of “Fake Britain” consumer rights BBC TV programme at the Advintageous fair in the Victorian Spa Centre, Scarborough.

After meeting the director and crew at the Grand Hotel and a working breakfast Richard arrived at a bright but bracing Spa Centre to meet presenter Michelle Ackerley.

Richard discussed examples of fake coins, banknotes, stamps, die cast and model railway boxes, comparing fakes with genuine examples.

Members of the public were invited to bring items to be valued and authenticated.

The team then headed out into the fair to ask members of the public to determine which items were genuine and fake.

Richard’s busy day filming finished around 4:30 pm.

The programme will air in May 2019, BBC1 7:30pm “prime time”.
