A Remarkable Year of Record-Breaking Sales Across All Departments
As we welcome the New Year, we are delighted to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for Warwick & Warwick. From rare medals and ancient coins to iconic cigarette cards, stamps and sought-after Pokémon favourites, our auctions have showcased exceptional material and attracted spirited bidding from collectors worldwide. Here are some of the standout moments from a truly unforgettable year.
January – A Strong Start
We began the year on a high with an impressive result in our Cigarette Card section. Lot 37, a part set of 1900 Cope’s Golfers, realised a fantastic £3,800, demonstrating continued enthusiasm for early sporting issues.

February – Our 1000th Auction
A major milestone for the company, February marked our 1000th auction. The celebration was made even more memorable by a remarkable result for Lot 6, a rare Army Gold Medal, which achieved an outstanding £14,000.

March – Strength Across Collectables
March brought further excitement with Lot 88—a collection of strongmen, wrestlers, and sports stars—selling for £1,750.

April – Medals & Militaria Shine
April delivered a diverse spread with Lot 36a, a WWII Distinguished Flying Cross awarded to a Hurricane pilot, sold for £2,000. In our Militaria section, Japanese Wakizashi swords (Lots 54 and 61) achieved £1,250 and £1,000, respectively.



May addressed the elephant in the room
An unusual and charming highlight came in May with the appearance of working Lesney Moko tinplate Jumbo elephants, which drew plenty of interest from collectors of vintage toys.

June – Coins Continue to Impress
Our June sale delivered one of the top-performing coin lots of the year. Lot 390, an 1826 Crown, soared to an impressive £10,500, reaffirming strong demand for high-grade early British silver.

July – Get your History
In Stamps, Lot 93, a fascinating Hong Kong, Macao, and Shanghai postal history collection, sold for £1,300 despite noted condition issues.

August – Banknotes & Gothic Crowns
August produced exceptional results across several categories. Lot 147, a D.H.F. Somerset Experimental Issue £1, sold for £2,500. A pair of beautiful 1847 Gothic Crowns (Lots 591 & 592) realised £4,300 and £2,500. The star of the month was Lot 706, a rare Kuwait 1960 3 dinars pattern coin, which sold for £10,000.

September – A Pokémon Surge
The popularity of classic Pokémon cards continued to grow this year with Lot 44, featuring Base Set holo Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur, sold for £240. Lot 47, A Dark Charizard from the Team Rocket set reached £370 and the standout was Lot 48, a superb Neo Genesis Lugia holo, realising a remarkable £3,280.


October – Stamps, Ancient Coins & Medals Excel
October’s highlights included from Stamps, Lot 1, an untouched old-time world collection in an SG Ideal First Edition album, which made £3,600. Lot 17, a historically rich husband-and-wife medal group relating to the Siege of Mafeking, realised an exceptional £12,000. In our ancient section of the coin sale, Lot 196, an electrum third gold stater from Ancient Lydia, sold for £875.


November – A Landmark Canadian Collection & Cigarette Card Triumphs
Our November Stamps auction featured the prestigious Jane Moubray RDP Hon FRPSL FRPSC Collection of Canada. Broken down into 36 lots, the entire collection sold out, achieving over £25,000, well above expectations.
Later in the month, our Cigarette Card Specialists offered a superb range of Clarke’s cards:
· Lot 28, a part set of 1901 Cricketers Series featuring W.G. Grace, sold for £2,200.
· Lot 29, a part set of 1902 Football Series including W. Meredith, proved the star of the event, achieving £3,500.

December – Christmas Countdown
In Our last Stamp auction of the year Lot 274 featured 1840 1d black range of 26 and sold for £1,800

In our last sale of the year, our Coins, Medals, Militaria and Banknotes Auction, we had a very impressive range of Ancient coinage.
One such lot was the star of the show with Lot 212, Ancient Greece, Macedonian, Alexander III, The Great. 336-323 BCE gold stater, 8.53g, obverse Bust of Athena right in Corinthian helmet with serpent, reverse Nike standing left holding wreath. This lot sold for a fantastic £2,400
