Rare German order Neck Decoration offered in our 21st February 2024 sale.

19th December 2023

A rare Third Reich N.S.D.A.P. The German Order is offered in our 21st February 2024 medal and militaria auction with an estimate of £15,000 to £20,000.

Third Reich. N.S.D.A.P. The German Order 1st Class Neck Cross with Laurel Wreath & Swords silver gilt and enamel neck decoration, reverse of the crossed swords and the reverse of the laurel leaves in the suspension stamped with the maker's mark G26, some light scratching to some of the enamel, but generally extremely fine and rare.

This Order is the highest award the Nazi Party could award to an individual for services to the state and party with only ten 1st Class awards and one 2nd Class award being made from its institution in 1942 to the end of WW2, with the first 7 of these were awarded posthumously. Only two of the recipients survived the war. While only a total of 11 awarded it is thought more were made but not awarded.

Sometimes referred to as the Hitler Order as the reverse enamel bears a facsimile of Hitler's signature as sometimes referred to as "The Dead Hero" Order due to the majority being awarded posthumously. The Order was designed by Benno von Arent and the first award was presented at the funeral of Reich Minister Fritz Todt in February 1942 and the second to Reinhard Heydrich in June 1942.

A rare opportunity to acquire the rarest of Third Reich orders.
