The temperatures might have dropped these past few days, but the prices we saw achieved at this month’s philatelic auction were far from frosty!
Beginning as always with the miscellaneous world collections, we saw active bidding with top sellers including lot 1, a beautifully presented, mint and used King George VI British Commonwealth collection in a Stanley Gibbons album. Rich with better sets and issues throughout, this album sold for a very healthy £3800.

The larger accumulation lots also performed well with lots 21 and 29, exemplifying this. Both in multiple boxes, these lots covered a wide variety of countries and periods and sold for just under and just over the original estimate, respectively!

Out of all of the Great British lots, it was Queen Victoria Line-Engraved stamps that stole the show, with almost all lots selling and selling over estimate! The first of these top lots was lot 227, an unused 1d black from plate 10, lettered ‘DG’ with clear margins all round. Estimated at £750, after a fierce stream of bids, the hammer came down at £1700. Lot 243 was a 1d red-brown Treasury Roulette nicely used with a London District ‘71’ barred numeral cancel. This philatelic icon attracted much attention and sold for £975

Another successful stamp sale for us at Warwick and Warwick and all of our bidders. We hope you enjoyed the experience and look forward to welcoming you back next month.
