William Clarke & Son, founded in 1830, was a prominent Irish tobacco manufacturer. In the early 1920s, tobacco advertising designed to attract and retain consumers expanded rapidly, and Clarke’s products were promoted through a wide range of materials, including advertising signs, coupons and cigarette cards. In 1924, Clarke’s were acquired by Ogden’s and with such a short production period their cigarette cards are highly sought after and very desirable for any private collector and dealer.
Warwick & Warwick has the pleasure to auction a range of Clarke’ s cards in our 19th November 2025 specialist cigarette card auctions, which proved extremely popular and made record-breaking figures. Some highlights include Lot 27, a part set of 1901 Boer War Celebrities, which sold for £130.
