Warwick & Warwick’s upcoming 10th December 2025 Coins, Medals, Militaria and Banknotes auction there is a historically significant and unique selection of ancient coins for sale that absolutely cannot be missed.
Our last auction of the year has over 600 lots on offer and 174 of them are in our ancient coin section.
Some ancient coin collection highlights are: -

Lot 123, a Byzantine Justinian I (527-565), Constantinople, gold tremissis, 1.32g, obverse bust right, reverse Victory advancing holding wreath, fine.

Lot 170, from Ancient Greece we have a fine example of Ancient Greece, Thrace, Koson. Circa mid-first century BCE gold stater, 8.35g, obverse 3 togate figures advancing left, the first and third carrying an axe over left shoulder, reverse eagle standing left of sceptre holding wreath in one claw, very fine. Unknown dynast, possibly Scythian whose coinage seems to be inspired by silver denari issued in 54 BCE by M. Junius Brutus.

Lot 190, is an Ancient Greece, Ionia, Magnesia. Circa 2nd century BCE silver tetradrachm, 16.30g, obverse bust of Artemis right, reverse Apollo by tripod on Meander pattern, fine.

Lot 212 is a lovely Ancient Greece, Macedonian, Alexander III, The Great. 336-323 BCE gold stater, 8.53g, obverse Bust of Athena right in Corinthian helmet with serpent, reverse Nike standing left holding wreath, good fine, with James Murphey ticket.

Lot 214 is an Ancient Greece, Thrace, Lysimachos. Circa 305-281 BCE gold stater, 8.44g, obverse head of Alexander right with horns of Ammon, reverse Athena enthroned right, Nike crowning King's name, very fine.

A real treat for us here at Warwick & Warwick is an Ancient India selection, including this fantastic lot, lot 275. A Kushan, Huvishka 152-192 CE gold stater, 7.97g, obverse bust of king left, reverse four-armed haloed Siva, fine.

Our last pre-sale favourite from this section includes lot 286, a Roman Tiberius 14-16 CE gold aureus, 7.24g, obverse head right, reverse PONTIF MAXIM Livia seated right holding sceptre and branch, fine, likely a Kushan copy.
