The comic section at the 18 July Warwick and Warwick auction was larger than normal and proved popular with the bidders. A large accumulation of approx. 900 cards from the Golden Age to the 1960s, estimated £200, made £690. A collection of 1000 unduplicated comics from the 1940s to the 1980s, estimated at £50, made £264 and 850 Bamforth comics from the 1950s onwards surprised the auctioneers by making £444. A collection of 280 comics by Tom Browne, in collectable condition, realised £240 and 800 by Fred Spurgin made £576. Bidding on military silks was lukewarm, as was Louis Wain. Surprisingly, a collection of 216 Mabel Lucie Attwell cards published by Valentines, from the 1930s onwards, bilingually in English and French, in good condition and unduplicated, failed to attract a bid, despite a start price of £260. A substantial collection of 1600 British, Continental and American exhibitions, estimate at £75, achieved £228.
Topography did not disappoint, with outstanding results recorded for Lancs, Lincs, Northumberland and Co. Durham, Scotland, Suffolk and West Riding of Yorks. Foreign countries recording heavy bidding included Russia, USA and the Far East.
