Yesterday, Warwick and Warwick auctions hosted our 20th May Toys, Cigarette Cards and Postcards sale and with it came some incredible lots. Today, we will be highlighting only a few from the sale.
Firstly, our cigarette card section was packed with excellent lots, but one standout amongst them was Lot 25, F&J Smiths Footballers 1909 set, which is a very rare find. Most sports cards are very popular with collectors. This lot sold for a hammer price of £330.
Our postcard section which features this incredible collection of Rugby-themed postcards, with Championship-winning team line-ups going to the early 20th century, including regional teams like Ilfracombe and Exeter. Lot 90 went for a hammer price of £800.
May the 4th is long gone now but it doesn’t mean we are out of Star Wars collectables, including this incredible range of Kenner/Palitoy figures from the original trilogy. Featuring much-loved characters like ‘Prune Face’ and ‘Imperial Dignitary’, it was always going to be a popular lot, and it was, selling for £750.
Up next is our Die Cast model section, including this incredible Shackleton Foden FG 6 Wheel Platform Lorry, with its original box and sporting a great coat of paint still; it was surely going to be an item of interest. The Foden sold for a hammer price of £180.
Finally, we move on to our Model Railway collections, with Lot 427, a Bassett Lowke O Gauge A1 Pacific Class locomotive. Always with Bassett Lowke, you can expect only the highest quality of craftsmanship, and this is no different. This model reached a hammer price of £300.
