The current COVID-19 heath crisis has led many companies to change their practices to bring them into line with the current government safety guidelines. So, for the safety of our customers and our staff, our 22 April 2020 Banknotes sale was a closed-door auction, with no room bidders allowed. There was still plenty of interest in the auction however with a plethora of book bids and a great number of bidders on the telephone.
We began with the English banknotes section and this Bradbury first issue 1914 10 shillings described as very fine, realised £372.
This Bradbury first issue 1914 10 shillings described as fine, achieved £156.
This Bradbury third issue 10 shillings described as good fine realised £120.
This Harvey 1918 £5 described as fine, sold for £180.
And this Peppiatt 1945 £5 described as extremely fine, achieved £192.
In the World banknotes section highlights included this Bank of Ireland 1939 ‘Ploughman’s’ £5 which realised £216.
This Provincial Bank of Ireland 1935 £1 described as good fine, achieved £144.
This Central Bank of Ireland 1975 £100 described as good fine, sold for £192.
And this Union Bank of Scotland 1914 £1 described as fine, achieved £216.
