Warwick and Warwick Coins Auction Report 19th February 2020

There were over 550 lots for keen coin collectors offered in our 19th February 2020 auction.

We began with British hammered coins section. Highlights of which included this Celtic Cunobelin gold stater which realised £1,380.

This Aethelberht (AD 858-866) penny, described as extremely fine, sold for a whopping £3,720!

And this lovely Henry VI first reign half noble achieved £1,680.

Moving onto milled coinage this unusual 1687 Maundy set realised £300. 

Always a popular coin, this 1847 Gothic crown sold for £2,220. 

This unusual 1860/59 penny, graded as nearly extremely fine, a large part with lustre, achieved a massive £3,480!

And this 1911 half crown to Maundy proof cased set realised £1,110.

In the gold coins section this 1821 sovereign, graded as fine, sold for £516. 

This 1822 sovereign achieved £690.

And this 1832 sovereign, second bust, realised £660.

We finished the sale with the ancient coins section and this Byzantine Constantine V with Leo IV gold solidus which sold for £780.

And this attractive Roman Theodosius II gold solidus achieved £690.
