Banknotes Auction Report 16th June 2021

28th June 2021

The COVID-19 heath crisis has led many companies to change their practices to bring them into line with the current government safety guidelines. So, for the safety of our customers and our staff, our 16th June 2021 Banknotes sale was a closed-door auction, with no room bidders allowed.

There was still plenty of interest in the auction however with a plethora of book bids and a great number of bidders on the telephone.

We began with the English banknotes section, this Hollom 1963 series C error £5 which was missing all serial numbers sold for £144 and this Page 1978 £1 experimental issue achieved £144.

Moving on to the world banknotes section, highlights include this Bermuda 1966 £5 which realised £360, this USA Confederate States 1861 $20 which sold for £120 and this Scotland National Bank of Scotland 1957 £20 which achieved £228.

Our next banknote auction will be held on Wednesday 18th August 2020. Look out for the full catalogue for this sale, which will appear on our website in the next few weeks. Also keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages which will include updates of our latest auction news.
