Wednesday 1st May 2024 Philatelic Auction Report

3rd May 2024

Our May 1st philatelic auction was quite the May Day celebration with competitive bidding and excellent prices achieved throughout the sale!

Lot 3 set the tone, a British Commonwealth collection in two Stanley Gibbons Imperial albums. With strong Queen Victoria ranges to top values, the lot was estimated at £2,000 and ended with a hammer price of £3,500.

Another lot that piqued our bidders' interest was lot 108. An early to modern collection of Thailand in six Lighthouse albums with good ranges of better material throughout. After a flurry of bids, this lot eventually sold for £1,600, over double the original estimate of £700.

Italy was also popular with lot 152 especially selling very well. Held in a single Stanley Gibbons Devon album, the vendor stated the catalogue value to be in excess of £34,500! Estimated at a sensible £500, lot 152 eventually sold for a very respectable £1,050.

All in all, another successful philatelic auction at Warwick and Warwick. We look forward to you all joining us for our next auction live on easyliveauction.com on Wednesday 5th June 2024. For sale updates and sneak previews, please follow our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages.
