Warwick and Warwick Coins and Banknotes Auction Report 16th October 2019

It seemed that autumn had finally arrived with a chill in the air for our 16th October 2019 Coins and Banknotes auction. Luckily this did nothing to deter bidders from hoovering up the 515 lots on offer.

We began with the banknotes section. Highlights included this Gibraltar 1965 £5 which realised £264.

This Reunion 1967 10 nouveaux francs on 500 francs sold for £276.

 

This Sarawak 1929 $10 achieved £576.

 

This Saudi Arabia 1966 100 riyals realised £360.

 

And this Straits Settlements 1914 $5 sold for £780.

 

Moving on to the British coins section this 1687 tin half penny achieved £372.

 

This 1703 VIGO shilling realised £300.

 

This 1714 pattern farthing sold for £480.

 

This 1797 cartwheel twopence achieved £396.

 

This 1837 half farthing realised £564.

 

In the British gold section this lovely 1818 sovereign sold for £1,320.

And in the World coins section this Ireland Henry VIII 1540-42 groat achieved £120.

And this USA 1895S $1 Morgan realised £230.
