Our 20th October 2021 Coins and Banknotes auction had some great lots and some even greater bids with customers bidding live via Easy Live and also with commission and telephone bids.

All our auctions are now start at 10.00am and are held exclusively online via Easy Live with no room bidders allowed. Viewing of the lots is strictly by appointment only on the Friday, Monday and Tuesday before the auction. No viewing is allowed on the day of the auction itself. We began the auction with the banknotes section and this Page 1971 £5 last series realised £410.

There were some lovely collections of world banknotes offered in this auction. Highlights include this Australia 1960's onwards $20 collection which sold for £525.

And this Bahrain 1964 Currency Board collection of 6 banknotes achieved a massive £1,950!

Moving on to the British coins section, highlights included this Edward III fourth coinage pre-treaty noble which realised £4,600.

                    

This Richard II noble achieved £3,100 and this Edward IV light coinage ryal sold for £1,800.

                   

Also, in the hammered coins section this Charles I Oxford mint coins including this 1644 unite realised £4,500. This Charles I Oxford mint 1643 pound achieved £8,750 and this Charles I Oxford Mint 1643 half pound sold for £3,200.

                    

In the milled British coins section, this Charles II 1662 crown realised £750. This 1746 half crown achieved £3,500 and this 1847 Gothic crown sold for £2,000.

          

In the gold section this 1820 sovereign realised £1,750. This 1893 £5 proof achieved £16,500 and this 1937 £5, £2, sovereign and half sovereign set sold for £11,500.

 

                     

In the world coins section, there was a lovely range of coins from Ireland. Highlights included this Henry VIII/ Anne Boleyn first harp issue groat which realised £430. This Elizabeth I 1561 shilling sold for £700 and this Bank of Ireland 1804 six shillings achieved £300.
