1875 halfcrown brockage offered in our 17th June specialist coin auction

27th May 2015

We are offering a scarce 1875 halfcrown obverse brockage in our 17th June specialist coin auction.

A brockage is caused when a coin gets stuck in the die during the minting process. The next coin minted is then struck with a mirror image of, in this case, the head side. This is often noticed before the coin goes into circulation, but occasionally one reaches the public.
