Excellent early Great Britain range in January 8th auction.

20th December 2019

Alongside the King Edward VII 1902 ‘menu’ 2s6d, we have a lovely range of early British stamps which brilliantly showcase classic stamps in outstanding condition. Between lots 595 to 606, we have a superb range of 1840 penny blacks, particularly noting the strength in lots 595, 598, 599, 600 and 606 (all pictured below). With good margins and clean cancels these stamps would be an excellent addition to any collection.

Lot 615, a fine 1867-80 2s deep blue with Doncaster cds and marg inscription is another very good example of a great stamp in superb condition.

Lots 617 and 618, the 1867-83 10s and 5s respectively, are two incredibly fine examples of these particular issues. Both have lovely centrally struck cds and the 1883 ‘Halifax’ cds on the 5s could not be illustrated any clearer. We believe that you would be hard pressed to find many better examples of these stamps and our January 8th sale offers a perfect opportunity to put a crowning jewel into your collection!
