September 20th Toys, Postcards & Cigarette Cards Sale

15th September 2023

After a week of soaring temperatures, things are starting to cool down here in Warwick as we move through September. With only a few days to go before our Collectables sale we wanted to highlight a few lots of interest that will be available for bidding this coming Wednesday. If you are interested in any of the items featured here or in our online catalogue, make sure you watch our auction live at https://www.easyliveauction.com/auctioneers/warwickandwarwick/

First up we have lot 347, a rare Bassett Lowke LMS Streamlined 'Princess Coronation' Class 4-6-2 LMS 6220 'Coronation' blue electric locomotive and tender. A superb addition to any collection and, with an estimate of £3500, this fabulous engine could be winding it’s way along your own railway very soon. Please be sure to also check out our catalogue, where a wide range of Bassett Lowke and other locomotives can be found from lot 307 onwards. An excellent opportunity to get your hands on that O gauge, N gauge or OO gauge model you’ve been looking for.

Additionally, for those interested in railway history, it would be worth your while perusing lots 298 to 306, an exciting range of cab and side numberplates which would be the perfect addition to any train enthusiast’s wall.

The second lot we would like to draw your attention to is number 140 and will certainly be of interest to any topographical postcard collectors. An exemplary real photographic range of Hampshire locales and other scenes, including this unfortunate motorist who has had an accident on Ghost Corner and drawn a bit of a crowd. This lot will be available at an estimate of £1300, so make sure to be watching when it and our other postcard collections go under the hammer this Wednesday.

Our third featured lot is number 22 in our catalogue, a complete set of 1914 Churchman Footballers (brown) in plastic sleeves. With a cat. value of £2,250 and an auction estimate of £350, this set could be the perfect addition to any cigarette card or sports devotee’s collection. Keep an eye out for this and other sets available in our cigarette card section at the beginning of our auction.

Our final highlight is a staple of British pop culture. Lot 268 is one of the most iconic cars of the last century, the Aston Martin D.B.5 as featured in the film Goldfinger. A near perfect example of this Corgi model complete with original box, special agent 007 behind the wheel and an estimate of £200, Britain’s most famous spy is ready to take centre stage once again and could be making his way into your collection.

Once again, if these or any other lots in our upcoming 20th September sale are of interest to you, please make sure to place your bids, either beforehand or on the day, and see the auction unfold at https://www.easyliveauction.com/auctioneers/warwickandwarwick/

Remember to keep a look out for our future sales of these items, plus why not check out our Philatelic and Numismatic catalogues which are also available via the drop down menu on our website.
